Asemic Visual Poetry Collab by Rosaire Appel & Cheryl Penn

Asemic visual poetry collab by Rosaire Appel (New York City, USA)
& Cheryl Penn (Durban, South Africa)

I am thrilled to have the opportunity to share these collaborations by asemic innovators Rosaire Appel and Cheryl Penn on Asemic Front 2. I believe this is the first time these two artists have worked together. The results are particularly relevant to this phase of the Asemic Front project.

In addition to providing excellent examples of integrated visual-asemic poetry, these pages also use elements of formalist concrete poetry to great benefit. The "classical pattern poetry" gives the work strong structural coherence. The newer innovation of over-striking contributes significantly to the generation of asemic symbols. While expressing fluidity and organic qualities, the pages also explore the construction and deconstruction of forms.

Deepest thanks to Rosaire Appel and Cheryl Penn for contributing to Asemic Front 2.
